The future is bright when it comes to electric vehicles. With more companies from various industries taking the next step towards a cleaner and more efficient future for all, it comes as no surprise that car manufacturers would also make a clean shift towards electric motors. And one amazing car company making waves in the electric sports cars niche is the amazing Croatian brand, Rimac Automobili.
The Start of the Electric Dream
The brand actually started as a hobby by founder, Mate Rimac. Seeing that his work on his BMW 3 conversion to an electric powertrain last 2007 caught the eyes of investors, Rimac decided to go full steam into creating a company that creates EVs. By 2009, Rimac Automobili was founded, with facilities rented care of the funds garnered from investors.
Since then, Rimac Automobili continues to grow, to the acclaim of even the biggest names in the motoring industry. The prestigious Volkswagen group’s subsidiary, Porsche, partnered up with Rimac to help develop better electric motors in 2018. This merger proved that Rimac Automobili truly knows its way around the EV manufacturing business, with more achievements expected from this brand in the near future.
Models that Showcase the Electric Dream
Let us now check out the amazing vehicles that Rimac has created throughout the years:
The car that proved Rimac Automobili has got what it takes to make it big in the motoring scene, the Green Monster is a BMW E30 that broke records when it was first revealed in the public.
Dubbed as the Green Monster by Rimac designers, this car was actually an old model owned by Marc Rimac himself. Seeing that he can bring out the best out of this aging car (this particular automobile was released in the 1980s), Rimac converted this car into an EV model when its gasoline engine exploded. Constantly tweaking and improving the EV component of the Green Monster, Rimac discovered that his skills can actually be used to make a better car from scratch.
The Green Monster recorded the impressive of being the fastest accelerating vehicle in Category A, Group III, and Class. Able to hit 0-100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, the Green Monster is truly a beast in the EV field. For an EV, able to have an output of 600 hp (900 Nm torque) and a top speed of 280 kph is truly amazing.
Come 2011, Rimac Automobili had another surprise that delighted the motoring public. Introduced during the Frankfurt Motor Show of that year, the very first automobile manufactured by Rimac Automobili showcased how the brand is a leading choice when it comes to EVs. Proving as well how Rimac Automobili focuses on quality, the Concept One had been released only in limited numbers, with 88 units initially announced, with the total shifted to 8 units – all sold, of course!
The production version of the Concept One primarily centers around the car’s battery and powertrain. Considering the push towards an all-electric vehicle, the Concept One doesn’t need any clutch functions or gear shift modes – the reaction time in this car model is instantaneous. In addition, the Concept One has a low center of gravity, mainly because the batteries of the car are located right under its floor with other heavy vehicle components.
Energy efficiency is excellent as well, with a full charge (which only takes just 30 minutes to juice the car up) can let the Concept One operate for at least 510 km. The Concept One’s battery is supplied by Sony, proving the efficiency of this power source.

Making its debut in the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the Concept S introduced several motoring enhancements and improvements from the already amazing Concept One. For starters, this car is lighter, yet more powerful under the hood. Making use of four efficient motors, the Concept S can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds. Top speed has also been noticeably increased, with the Concept S going at an impressive 365 km/h.
The Concept S has a powerful 120 kWh that can go over for 400 miles. Additional tech-savvy enhancements found in the car is the facial recognition entry, lock, and ignition start. The Concept S also comes with 8 cameras for safety purposes.
The second official release from Rimac Automobili is the Concept Two, which is officially called C_Two by the brand. Designed by popular Croatian designer, Adriano Mudri, the C_Two sports the amazing curves with a touch of masculinity that Rimac Automobili strives to have on its vehicles. A striking design facet that is readily seen would be the car’s doors – it uses butterfly types! The shift in design coincides with even more tech enhancements found in the C_Two, which the brand does call a vehicle that is alive with technology.
The C_Two is blazingly fast, with a recorded top speed of 415 km/h. Additionally, this hypercar can go from 0 to 97 km/h in just 1.85 seconds. The C_Two has also been enhanced, making this a hypercar that can be driven aggressively with no fear of breaking apart. This car also comes with the popular facial recognition tech found on the Concept S. More advanced driver assist tech enhancements have been integrated into the C_Two, which does make this car a breeze to drive!
Battery power, as expected, is awesome in this hypercar. Full charge is capable of as little as 30 minutes. Production, with quality still as a prime objective, is still limited. The brand does plan to release more models, just as soon the Covid-19 pandemic has subsided. Also, the C-Two comes with a handy fire extinguisher in extreme cases of fires and the like.
