Wiesmann Car: Hand Customized to Perfection

German engineering that disrupts expectations in a good way – that’s what you can expect from every model released by the Wiesmann car brand. Defying expectations and crafting each and every vehicle by hand, these convertibles are definitely some of the best that the motoring industry has ever seen! In fact, the limited numbers of these vehicles prove that a passionate and deep focus on creating vehicles is a main priority with this brand.

Wiesmann Car: Hand Customized to Perfection

The Gecko Begins Crawling

The Wiesmann brand released its very first model in 1993. Production was limited, considering the high level of quality placed on each model in the brand’s factory. By 2006, the company had been producing approximately 180 cars per year, a feat considering that these were premium convertibles!

The German car brand soon took the chance to start exporting their amazing models to the United States in 2010. However, 2013 paved another way for the company, with the Wiesmann car group filing for insolvency, with closure set the following year. Still, things have a way especially if you are a car company known for its class and quality production – recent changes revealed that the Wiesmann company is planning for a relaunch in 2020!

Additionally, the Gecko logo used by the brand isn’t just for style – it’s the company’s trust on the performance of its vehicles, which are made to stick to the road just how a gecko can firmly stay stuck to a wall!

1993 unveiled the very first model from Wiesmann Cars. Dubbed the MF 30, this roadster made use of the impressive M54B30 from BMW. The MF30 boasted of a power generation of 225 hp (170 kW) and 5,900 rpm. Also, this convertible can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds. Its top speed was set at 143 mph. Seeing the rapid advancements of the company, the MF 30 was discontinued to showcase a modified variant, the MF 3 – which is featured next!

The MF 30 was replaced by an even more impressive convertible – the MF 3. Making use of the powerful S54 engine of the BMW M3, this Wiesmann Car model paved the way on how elegant sports cars are made by this German company.

Additionally, the low center of gravity of the MF 3 makes it balance out the tremendous power that this car generates. Not surprisingly, the MF 3 is the Wiesmann car brand’s longest running car, at 18 years of glorious production. This just shows that even at almost two decades, the high level of quality found in this automobile is not only innovative, but can definitely match up even against contemporary models.

After more than a decade since the spectacular MF 3 release, the Wiesmann Car group surprised the world with the amazing launch of the GT MF 4. A two-seater convertible meant for long rides, the GT MF 4 essentially combined power and style in one amazing automobile.

This model did come in three variants: the MF 4, MF-4S, and the MF-4T. The MF 4 came in two types: the GT MF 4 and a Roadster version. Both made use of impressive 4.8 L V8 BMW engines.

Both also made use of a six-speed manual transmission configuration and enjoyed an impressive 367 HP output. The MF-4S is considered to be the sportiest among the trio, with an outstanding 420 HP performance. MF-4T slightly edges the initial MF 4 release, at 407 HP.

Interestingly as well is that the MF-4T and the MF-4S have also been released in coupe versions, technically the first “closed” cars from the Wiesmann brand!

There were two MF 5 variants created: the Wiesmann GT MF 5 and the Wiesmann Roadster MF 5. Both variants boasted of an impressive 555 HP power output. The MF 5 was also optimized for a six speed automatic transmission orientation. Proving its worth in speed, the MF 5 was recorded to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. People were sure intrigued when the Wiesmann Car group announced its reopening last 2016. Hard at work in creating a new and one-of-a-kind sports car, the engineering and motoring wizards of the Wiesmann Car company have been hard at work in surpassing expectations.

Dubbed as Project Gecko, a release has been scheduled ASAP. However, some technical details have been released to the public to give motorists a taste of things to come:

  • 8 speed gearbox
  • Project Gecko would be powered by a BMW W’s Twinpower Turbo 8-cylinder engine (petrol)
  • This may be the fastest Wiesmann Car, with top speed expected to be over 320 km/h
  • Perfect weight distribution (50:50)

Of course, the Project Gecko car will still be built by hand, going and retaining the Wiesmann Car group’s tradition of creating bespoke vehicles. We can’t wait for this beauty to be released!
