A star shines bright in the motoring world. The Polestar car brand, which mainly produces high performance electric cars, brings some much-needed style in the automobile scene as well.
The Star Has Risen
Polestar is actually a brand jointly owned by two impressive groups: the Volvo Car Group and Geely. It’s origins can be traced around more than two decades ago, when Polestar Racing began engineering Volvo vehicles.
Seeing the expertise that Polestar has, Volvo themselves bought the company last 2015. The decision to get the group rewarded both Geely and Volvo – Polestar creations do shine like the motoring stars that they are.
The Star Models of this Car Brand
Polestar currently has created two amazing vehicles. Both have the performance and style qualities that will make them a big name in the scene.
Polestar 1
The magic of the Polestar 1 was first revealed to the world last 2013. Originally designed to be Volvo’s Concept Coupe (while taking some key features from a heritage model, the Volvo P1800 as well), the Polestar 1 went through some major refinements before it was officially unveiled during the Shanghai Auto Show last 2017.
The Polestar 1 then made an announcement that it is finalizing road tests – everything should be ready for a production release by 2020.
The Polestar 1 is classified as a grand tourer coupe with 2 doors. Let’s check out some of its technical aspects below:
The Polestar 1 may perhaps be a great representation of how powerful a hybrid car can be. Powered by two electric motors that manage the rear wheels and a petrol engine that manages the front, the dynamic effect of these engines result in 600 hp (torque has an amazing value of 737 lb.-ft.).
In pure electric mode, the Polestar 1 can go for an approximate range of 60 miles (34 kWh). The twin electric motors that focus on the rear wheels each has a maximum power output of 116 hp (85 kW). The Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) that is integrated in the Polestar 1 adds some impressive 68 hp (52 kW) in the mix.
Only the best materials and components are used when creating the Polestar 1. Carbon fibre is a major component in the can, which efficiently makes up almost every part of the car. Inside, the integrated Bowers & Wilkins sound system allows a total infotainment experience that makes each trip a delight.
The Polestar 1 also has a panoramic glass roof. With a massive reach, this awesome design feature offers a great overhead view. But more than anything else, almost every part of the Polestar 1 can be customized to a driver’s preference – making each model truly unique!
Breaking down the main ideas behind the Polestar 1 can be seen in these two main features: the carbon fibre inclusion and the active rear spoiler.
The active rear spoiler incorporates functional design by allowing impressive downforce on the car’s rear axle. This feature is automatically deployed at speeds of 65 mph – it is retracted once the car slows down at a drop of 44 mph.

The carbon fibre also can also be found in the car’s underbody. Called the Dragonfly, this patch stiffens the interaction between the mid and rear parts of the car.
